The Chapter's mandate
The South America Chapter covers twelve economies, from the Southern Cone to the Andean and Amazonian markets and the Guianas. It serves European companies seeking market access in South America, South American companies entering Romania and the European Union, and institutions seeking a structured counterpart for cooperation. Brazil, where the Chamber holds long-standing institutional roots and leadership connections, is a principal market within the Chapter, which remains regional in mandate.
To develop commercial relations, investment and institutional cooperation between the economies of South America, Romania and the European Union, and to connect South American business with the Chamber's wider network across the South.

Brazil: anchor market and regional gateway
Brazil is one of the anchor markets of the South America Chapter. The Chamber's leadership maintains an established platform in Brazil, and that experience informs how the Chapter supports members across the wider region. Brazil is treated as a gateway rather than as the whole of the Chapter's mandate: Mercosur membership, the scale of Brazilian industry and agribusiness, and the country's institutional links across South America make it a practical point of entry for European companies that intend to operate regionally. Members working through Brazil are equally supported in Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Uruguay and the other markets of the Chapter.

Brazil: institutional access
Brazil is the flagship priority market of the South America Chapter. The Chamber's President, Morten Reimers, has been designated Honorary Consul by Brazil in Romania, with consular jurisdiction over Brașov, Alba, Sibiu and Prahova counties. That designation is personal to him and is not an office of the Chamber — International South Chamber of Commerce is an independent chamber and does not represent the Brazilian government — but it gives the Chamber's leadership unusually direct, first-hand institutional and commercial engagement with Brazil.
