Brazil

Brazil is the largest economy in South America and one of the most diversified industrial, agricultural and technological bases in the Global South. It combines a globally significant agribusiness sector with established capability in aerospace, energy, mining, advanced manufacturing, financial services and digital technology.

For the International South Chamber of Commerce, Brazil is a priority market within the South America Chapter rather than a separate regional structure. The Chamber's institutional roots and leadership relationships in Brazil inform the Chapter's wider work, and Brazilian engagement is used as an entry point for companies developing a broader South American strategy.

The Chamber supports companies in both directions: Brazilian enterprises seeking access to Romania, the European Union and the wider South, and European and Southern companies establishing commercial, industrial or investment positions in Brazil.

The Chamber's engagement with Brazil is reinforced at leadership level: President Morten Reimers has been designated Honorary Consul by Brazil in Romania. The appointment is personal and independent of the Chamber, but it gives the Chamber first-hand institutional insight into the Brazil–Romania relationship.

Brazil's external trade profile is anchored in agribusiness and food, extractive industries and industrial goods, complemented by growing exports in energy technology, aerospace and digital services. Agribusiness alone accounted for roughly 48.5% of Brazilian exports in 2025.

The Chamber's work concentrates on structured, long-term commercial relationships rather than one-off transactions: sourcing and offtake arrangements, industrial partnerships and joint ventures, localisation and supply-chain development, and investment structuring in infrastructure, energy and manufacturing.

Members receive market orientation, counterpart identification, commercial due-diligence support and introductions to relevant institutional interlocutors.

Romania and Brazil maintain long-standing diplomatic and commercial relations, with practical potential in agribusiness and food processing, energy and energy transition, defence-industrial and aerospace cooperation, IT and digital services, industrial machinery and logistics.

Within the European framework, Brazil is a central partner in EU–Mercosur commercial relations. The Chamber positions Romania as a competitive European entry point for Brazilian exporters and investors — through Black Sea and Danube logistics, industrial capacity and a strong technology workforce — while supporting Romanian and European companies entering Brazil.

The Chamber approaches this relationship institutionally: engagement with chambers, federations, sector associations and public authorities in both jurisdictions, complemented by direct business-to-business work.

Entering Brazil requires attention to corporate structure, tax and customs regimes, sector regulation, certification and local partnership. The Chamber assists members with market assessment and entry-route selection, partner and distributor identification, verification of counterparts, guidance on regulatory and certification pathways, and introductions to professional advisers.

For Brazilian companies entering Romania and the European Union, the Chamber provides the equivalent service: EU market orientation, regulatory and compliance signposting, partner search and introductions to Romanian institutional and industrial counterparts.

The Chapter organises and supports business missions and delegations between Brazil, Romania and other member markets. These are sector-focused and prepared in advance: defined participant profiles, pre-arranged meeting programmes, institutional appointments and post-mission follow-up.

Members may also request the Chamber's support for incoming Brazilian delegations, sector visits, trade fair participation and bilateral business forums.

The Chamber pursues cooperation with Brazilian chambers of commerce, industry federations, sector associations, investment promotion bodies and public institutions, alongside Romanian and European counterparts.
